Auditions are coming up for our next season - please mark your calendars!
Monday, August 2, from 5pm to 9pm. No appointments.

The Laboratory Theater of Florida is casting for all roles for the following stage plays. Auditions are August 2nd from 5 to 9 pm at 2301 First Street in downtown Fort Myers. This is the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center. All auditionees should be prepared with a dramatic monologue not to exceed 2 minutes. WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? This classic play, which was made into a stunning film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, looks at the lies we tell ourselves and others to make life more palatable. An evening of heavy drinking leads to raucous behavior and sometimes vicious truth-telling.

Wear your SWEET CHARITY shirt and whatever pants during the day. That night you will have a provided t-shirt and will need to wear jeans.

Lunch will be provided.

PLEASE LET MR. LOETE KNOW IF YOU NEED TO BE BACK AT SCHOOL BY 1:45 TO CATCH THE BUS HOME.

You must get yourselves back to the BBMann by 6:30 p.m.

TAMPA/STATE FESTIVAL INFO

Four Day participants will depart the Center for the Arts parking lot (Blackbox Theatre) at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7th. You may leave your vehicle locked in that lot if you wish. This group will return on Sunday, April 11th around 2:00 p.m.

Participants going for SWEET CHARITY only will depart on Friday, April 9th at 9:00 a.m. Again, cars may be left in the Center Parking lot. This group will check in to the hotel, eat lunch and be transported to the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. This group will depart Saturday, April 10th and return to CLHSCA around 4:00 p.m.

Money owed will be addressed upon our return from the Festival. To give an idea of what is owed:

4 day participants who are competing: $109

4 day participants who are not competing: $145

CHARITY only participants: $50

The hotel does provide breakfast, but all other meals are on your own (except dinner on April 9th).

THIMLAR TO RECEIVE AWARD

It was just announced that Mrs. Shelly Thimlar will be awarded the Florida State Thespian 2010 Administrator of the Year Award! The award will be presented at the closing ceremonies of this year's State Festival on April 10th, 2010 in Morsani Hall. Please congratulate Mrs. Thimlar and thank her for all of her hard work and dedication the next time you see her.

1. Let's begin with this one: JOURNALS HAVE BEEN UPDATED. Your second semester journal entries are now avaialbe under the JOURNALS tab in the navigation bar. Second semester journals will be due May 28th, 2010.

2. It's official!!! District Thespian Festival 2010/2011 will be held at CLHSCA on October 22nd and 23rd, 2010. Our co-hosts for the event will be Troupe 2519 from North Fort Myers High and Troupe 5782 from Canterbury School. More information on this event will come towards the end of the school year.

3. Panther Showcase is Monday, February 1st. Students who volunteered to assist must be at the Blackbox by 5:15 p.m. Please dress appropriately for your performance and follow school dress code regulations. Performance times are 5:45 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. Questions please see Mr. Loete ASAP!!!

4. There will be a meeting regarding the 2010 State Thespian Festival icluding SWEET CHARITY at the Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall and Morsani Hall on Wednesday, February 10th, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Blackbox Theatre. All parents of students attending the State Thespian Festival (SWEET CHARITY) should plan to attend. The meeting should last about one hour.

5. Money for tickets for YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU at the Florida Repertory Theatre is due by February 9th. Tickets are $10.00 each. We will be seeing the show February 10th following the State Thespian Festival parent meeting. Curtain is 8:00 p.m. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the theatre.

A reminder that we have tickets for GEORGE M! at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre on Tuesday, January 26th, 2010. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $19.00 which includes dinner and the show. I have the following people signed up for tickets:
